Simmering in the Still Room

 As I slice lemons for Honey Lemons, stir cranberry sauce, and make preparations for Thanksgiving dinner, I'm adding bits and pieces to a small simmering pot on the stovetop- ends of lemons, the cinnamon stick I fished out of the finished cranberry sauce, a few star anise, a pinch of whole cloves, a bit of rosemary left from the turkey brine ...  smells lovely here today.
